Rachelle Shaffer-Veterinary Technician

Rachelle resides in Columbia Cross Roads, Pennsylvania with her husband Jeremey Shaffer, and their menagerie of cats, dogs, and goats.  She also boards a horse for a friend.  She enjoys many activities but a few of her favorites are weight lifting, hiking with her dogs, horseback riding, canoeing, camping, back packing, 4-wheeling, and spending time with her friends and family.

She is the daughter of Brice and Lois Pardoe of Sullivan County, Pennsylvania.   She has three brothers Aaron, Darrell, and Austin Pardoe.

Rachelle attended Sullivan County Elementary and High School; graduating in 1997.  Then, she attended Johnson College in Scranton, PA and earned an Associate’s degree in “Veterinary Science Technology” in 1999. Upon graduation from college she took the national board exam and received a Pennsylvania License as an “Animal Health Technician”.

Rachelle completed her college externship at Laurel Hill Veterinary Service in the spring of 1999 and was hired full time upon graduation.  She spent the next 11 years working for their office as their “Head Veterinary Technician”.  While working at Laurel Hill she was directly involved in the veterinary care of many of the animals from Animal Care Sanctuary.

In 2003 she took a 16-hour hands on intense training course in veterinary dentistry at the Animal Dental Training Center in Baltimore, Md.  Dr. Ira R. Luskin, Diplomate AVDC, taught the course.  She has had many years of practice and is very skilled in the field of  veterinary dentistry.

In December of 2010 she was offered and accepted her position at Animal Care Sanctuary as “Head Veterinary Technician”.  Rachelle is very excited about this new career path and looks forward to learning something new every day.
