Chrissy's Story
Hi all,
We are all enjoying the newest member of our family, sweet little Chrissy. We brought her home on October 8 I believe, and she has adjusted beautifully! We have affectionately re-named her Muffin or Muffy (she can't hear much anyway) and you were right, all she really wants is a nice lap to curl up on. I thought you might enjoy hearing one of her adventure stories... We feed her at about 7:30 am and again between 5 and 5:30 most days. If I should forget the evening meal she lets me know with her quiet little "sign language" she has taught me ... One evening we were out Christmas shopping during her mealtime. When we arrived at home, we found that she had somehow opened the cupboard under the sink and dragged or pushed an 8 pound bag of dry dog food over near her dish. It was open and she must have eaten her fill and left not one crumb or morsel behind. She may be blind, she may be deaf, but she is certainly not dumb!!! A very resourceful little lady... that must be how she has endured her hardships and abandonment thus far.
Thank you for allowing us to enjoy and love her and for the tireless work you all do for the animals there at your sanctuary.
Sincerely,
The Ebbers Family

Namak's Story
- Hi Gail! Namak here! Just wanted to let you know how I'm doing! Saturday, day 1; Who are these people? Why am I with them? Why am I at their house? They're calling me Dakoda! Who's Dakoda? Stairs? What are stairs? I'm not going up & down stairs! Am I staying here? Where am I going next? Are they going to leave me somewhere? Will they be nice to me? I was scolded for peeing on the living room carpet! It's green! I always pee where it's green! I found a comfortable spot to hang out by the kitchen sink & dishwasher, so I'm staying right there! I'M SO SCARED & CONFUSED!!!!!!!! Sunday, day 2: These people seem nice, but I-I-I-I don't know!!! They gave me a little cheese, and chicken from their dinner; yum-m-m-m-m!!!! I got scared because they put me in the car! But it was so I could take them for a walk in a park in Owego; and they even took me back to their house! I started to check this place out a little more & it seems OK! Even went up & down the stairs by myself! I think they like me, even though I was scolded for peeing on the carpet again! Monday, day 3; I was put in a crate for the morning, not too bad! Played outside in the snow (when they're not looking!) Took Gary for a short walk & even went back to the house again! More treats: beef gravy from their dinner! M-M-M-M-M-M-M!!! Gary & I sat outside next to each other & watched a big empty trailer burn late this evening, about a quarter mile away! Did'nt smell too good! I got petted a lot! I like getting petted a LOT!!!! I think I'll be staying here! Tuesday, day 4: Another short walk! What are they, walking freaks?!?!?!?!? Checked the house out a little more today. Kinda nice! I've got my own blanket to lay on! Toys! Plenty of food & water In MY OWN dishes! I was even trying to help her with her dirty clothes! I took some of them from their bedroom to thre living room! She just laughed! I got scolded again for peeing on the green carpet! This time, Connie scolded me & put me outside! Must be I'm supposed to pee outside! Wednesday, day 5, In the crate all day! What did I do? Connie came home for lunch & let me out, but put me back in when she went back to work! Boy was I glad to see her later! I did'nt want sleep in the crate that night, so they were nice enough to let me sleep on my blanket in their bedroom for the night! NICE!!!! And I did'nt pee on the carpet today! NO SCOLDING!!!! Thursday, day 6; I stayed out on my trolley system for the morning! ( I think they are starting to trust me more & more! ). I can go out about 100 feet & back to the porch ( where the stairs are, not so bad now! ). My blanket is there, food & water for me, toys, even an igloo with straw in it! Gary came home at lunch time and wanted me to go in. Is he nuts? It's warm & I like it out here! I can wander anywhere in the house & it's OK! I have'nt been downstairs yet, though! Don't like THOSE stairs! Another walk! It's fun though! Did'nt pee on the carpet & did'nt get scolded! Awesome! Slept in their bedroom again! Life is getting better! Friday, day 7;OH BOY! I got off my trolley system this afternoon!!! I went up the road & visited some other Huskies! Went to another house & played with their dog & kids! WOW WHAT FUN! And guess who shows up, but Connie & Gary!!(Must be they want me to stay with them!) Scolded again!! I heard Gary say something about fixing that so I can't do that again! We'll see!!!! Well, It's Saturday morning, day 8 & and I have no idea what they have in store for me today other than a playdate with Connie's daughter's dog! Sounds like fun to me!!! All in all, I'm feeling like this is my home now & I'm getting settled in here. I'm even getting used to my new name! They pay a lot of attention to me! Give me treats, toys, my own blanket & bed, food & water whenever I want, in or out whenever I want! They take me places; even though I don't like getting in the car, the ride itself is OK! I haven't been scolded for peeing since Tuesday! (Guess I'll go outside from now on! ) Seems nice! I'll keep in touch! Thank you, Dakoda(Namak). Hi Gail! Connie & Gary here! We hope he's happy here! Wish we knew what he was thinking! We love him dearly!! Thank you!!
