ACS Takes in 26 Cats After Owner Dies

On June 19th at 10:30pm Animal Care Sanctuary received a call from the Tioga County Humane Officer asking for help with 22 cats. A cat owner had died and there were 22 cats in the home. We said we would help and at midnight 26 cats arrived. The home had more, some dead, and some she was unable to catch. Our staff got them all tucked in and early the next morning our vet team started examining all the cats. None had any vaccinations or were spayed or neutered. Many had upper respiratory infections, parasites, and other medical problems. All were friendly and seemed to appreciate the care, warm beds and good food.

All will be spayed and neutered, microchipped and observed until deemed healthy enough to be adopted. This is difficult at the height of kitten season and the expense was not in the budget. Animal Care Sanctuary is asking for donations for the medical care and sheltering as we prepare them for a forever life with a new family.
