Get To Know Emily Skjöld

Emily Skjöld – Volunteer Coordinator
Ashley - Catery Manager at Animal Care Sanctuar
Emily with her dog, Journey

How long have you been a part of ACS? Why did you get involved?

“I started at ACS a little over a year ago, though the time has really flown by! I was at a point in my life where I really needed to do something that would make me feel good, and when I heard there was a position available here, I jumped at it! I mean, what can make you feel better than all of these sweet furry faces? So far, I have no regrets about it!”

Are you a dog person or a cat person?

“I would have to say that I’m mostly a dog person, no disrespect for cats! My heart is really drawn to dogs, though. I guess I just love that constant attention (even if they do drive me crazy sometimes!)”

“…as the Volunteer Coordinator, I feel like I should say time (being what ACS needs to have donated)! With everything going on in the world right now, we have taken quite a dip in our active volunteers, and I really can’t stress the huge impact volunteers have on our shelter! I know that not everyone can afford to donate as much money as they would like, but time is an invaluable gift!”

What’s your favorite part of your job?

“I really love getting to work with people who are eager to help. I think that we have a really solid core set of volunteers who are willing to go above and beyond for our animals. From working here at the Sanctuary to taking someone out and about on a Tail Wag Tag Along, it’s just such a refreshing reminder of how good people can be!”

Tell us about your pets!

“My pets… I have two dogs right now. Journey is a 7 year old German Shepherd/Hound mix, and Henry is a 2 year old Pitbull mix. If you were to ask Henry, they are best friends (though Journey might sometimes hesitate on that one). They’re both world class snugglers, expert howlers, and the absolute best!”

Sponsor a pet! Tell us about your best friend at ACS and why he/she deserves to be adopted!

“I really want to give a shoutout to my man Beefaroni. He’s just a really cool guy and I can’t believe he hasn’t found a forever home yet! He’s a solid dude with a big old smile, and after seeing pictures of him rolling around on a Tail Wag Tag Along, I have to say he stole my heart!”

What do you think ACS needs donated the most?

“Well, as the Volunteer Coordinator, I feel like I should say time! With everything going on in the world right now, we have taken quite a dip in our active volunteers, and I really can’t stress the huge impact volunteers have on our shelter! I know that not everyone can afford to donate as much money as they would like, but time is an invaluable gift!”
