August 2022

Dear ACS Family,
I hope you are all enjoying the summer and soaking up all the warm August days. The summer finds us busier than ever at ACS as we see a shelter crisis nationwide. Rescues across the country are at capacity and turning away dogs and cats due to lack of space. Many are euthanizing animals because they have nowhere to place cats and dogs in need of loving homes. Here at ACS, we are working harder than ever to help our partner rescues by transporting cats and dogs from overcrowded shelters to ACS for the time they need to find forever homes.

As our transport program grows, so does our search to provide innovative solutions to keeping dogs and cats in homes. When a dog or cat is struggling to get acclimated to their new home, we offer on-site and phone consultations to walk adopters through simple steps and training methods that help the dog and/or cat settle into their new surroundings.

The rising cost of pet food can also impact a family’s ability to keep their beloved cat or dog. ACS offers a pet food pantry that allows those struggling with food costs to feed their pets. Throughout the summer, we have also offered free vaccinations for cats and dogs thanks to the generosity of our partner, the Bissell Foundation. These are just some of the ways we are working to help stem the tide of animal homelessness and keep pets in homes with the families that love them.

I am thrilled to announce the Double Your Good Campaign. Thanks to the generosity of one of our donors, all donations during the month of August will be matched up to $5000!!! Additionally, all new monthly donors in August will have their total donation amount for the full year matched dollar for dollar! Your support is so important, especially in the summer months when donations are generally slower than other times of the year.

One of the many things that sets ACS apart from other rescues is our commitment to giving dogs and cats the time they need to find a forever home no matter how long it takes. Your support in the month of August doubles your donation and doubles the good we can do with your generosity. As we continue to celebrate 55 years of life-saving, we know there is still work to be done. I hope you will enjoy this month’s newsletter and as always, thank you for your continued support. Love, hope, compassion, kindness to animals everywhere – that is the power of Sanctuary.
